Frequently Asked Questions

The couplet text and its plain meaning are free across every published story and need no account — so are the master couplet of the day, search and the display preferences. Where you were reading is remembered in this browser, and “Continue reading” takes you back to that lesson and couplet; if you sign in later, that position moves into your account. Commentary, Qur’anic and Hadith references and the reflection prompts are the members-only layer and load only once you sign in; likes, notes, the lesson path, nay and streak need an account too.

Every story is split into lessons — the same lessons as the app. A lesson moves couplet by couplet: first the couplet and its meaning, then its Qur’anic/Hadith links, commentary and reflection. Each step has a short reading time worked out from its length, after which “Continue” unlocks. The next lesson opens once the previous one is finished, and your progress is shared with the app. A Lover who has finished a lesson and earned today’s 40 nay reads the next one tomorrow (or opens it today with nay); a Student goes through the lessons in order with no daily limit, and a Scholar has every lesson open from the start.

Every couplet that has a vowelled version carries a small toggle beneath it that swaps that one couplet between plain and diacritics. To make one of the two the default everywhere, turn on “Diacritics on every couplet” in Preferences — the per-couplet button still overrides a single couplet.

Couplets that have a recording show a play button. With “Audio autoplay” on (Preferences; on by default), when a couplet’s recording ends the next couplet with audio follows. Going to a couplet from search or a link does not start audio by itself.

Search runs over couplet text, plain meaning and couplet numbers across every published story, and is free for everyone. Once you are signed in you can also search the Ayahs, Hadiths, Commentaries or Reflections; that search runs on Nayestan’s server and shows only results from sections you have read or opened (a Scholar sees every section). Topic search with themes is free for Students and Scholars, and a Lover can open it for 24 hours with nay.

Each of those four pages has three tabs, as in the app. Today shows one item a day (the master couplet of the day is open to everyone; the reflection, ayah and hadith of the day are picked from what your study has reached). Review brings back a few of your own items every day to read again; under each card you can choose “More often”, “Less often” or “Set aside”, and each card reviewed earns 1 nay (up to 20 a day). Archive lists everything your study has collected. Review and Archive are free for Students and Scholars, and a Lover can open each for 7 days with nay. The collections are shared with the app.

Yes. Likes, notes, read couplets, streak and nay all live on the same Nayestan account, so the website and the app show one and the same record, and a change on one shows on the other shortly after.

“Nay” is Nayestan’s unit of points: you earn them by studying lessons, reviewing cards and with bonuses — on the website just as in the app. A day counts for your streak when you earn at least 40 nay from study or review (study in the app and on the website adds up). A freeze covers a missed day automatically, and a missed day can be repaired within 48 hours. A “chilla” is 40 real study days in one streak (frozen and repaired days are not counted). Tap the gem or the flame in the top bar to see your nay and your streak calendar.

On your account. The top bar carries two separate icons: the heart opens your liked couplets and the pencil opens your notes.

The FA/EN icon in the top bar opens the very same page in the other language, and your choice is remembered for next time.

In Settings → Delete account you delete your account and all its data yourself (you confirm twice, and sign in again if you signed in a while ago). If you cannot get into your account, the Data deletion page explains the way. Settings → Backup & Export lets you keep a copy of your data first.

Reading the couplets and their meanings is free for everyone, with no account. With an account (the Lover rank) every section is open while your streak is alive — at least 20 couplets a day, never leaving a part half read. The Student and Scholar ranks are earned by study (one and three continuous chillas) or can be bought, and some features can be opened with the nay you earn by studying. Your rank card in Settings has the details.

Your account email, your study data (likes, notes, progress, streak and nay), your purchase records and your feedback messages. The Privacy page has the full list, where each is kept and for how long.

Yes, as a picture card. Each couplet’s share button makes a card with the couplet and its meaning. The ayahs and hadiths of the Qur’anic/Hadith links section and the reflections have a share button too, and their card always sits under that couplet and its meaning. The page’s link goes with the picture; where a device cannot share a picture, the picture is saved and the link copied. The card is square, and “For a story” makes it tall. Ayahs and hadiths that open in a small reference pop-up have no share button.
